Nightshades

Let’s talk nightshades. Also known as the Solanaceae family, this includes eggplant, potatoes, tomatoes, pepper (sweet, hot, and spices), and goji berries. 🥔 🍅 🍆 🌶 Good for you right? Well.. kind of. The answer is a bit complex and controversial – tons of people can consume nightshades with no symptoms, but for those that are sensitive to them, they can cause inflammation! 🔥.

Nightshades are full of polyphenols and nutrients, all beneficial to your health. They also include glycoalkaloids, used to ward off animals, insects, and fungi. 🐛These compounds have been shown to aggravate inflammation in individuals with conditions such as Inflammatory Bowel Disease and arthritis. .
